چکیده

Methods Fasting adult mongrel dogs weighing 9 to IS kg were anesthetized with morphine sulfate (2 mg/kg subcutancously) and sodium pentobarbital (15 mg/kg intravenously) or with sodium pentobarbital alone (30 mg/kg intravenously). In some experiments the vagus-sympathetic-depressor trunks were cut. Intermittent positive pressure respiration was used unless otherwise stated. Arterial pressure was recorded from a femoral artery by a mercury or by a strain gauge manometer. Five per cent dextrose in saline was given by slow intravenous drip in all experiments. In 17 dogs, one kidney was removed and a Goldblatt clamp applied loosely to the contralateral renal artery. Both procedures were performed retroperitoneally through flank incisions. In S of these 17 dogs, the thoracic duct was cannulated in the neck and lymph allowed to drain externally. Renal vein blood was obtained in 10 dogs by introducing a polyethylene catheter (outside diameter 2 mm) into the renal vein on the nephreetomized side, passing it across the inferior vena cava into the eontralateral renal vein and manipulating it into the renal hiluin. Arterial blood was obtained through a polyethylene catheter from

Angiotensin II in arterial and renal venous plasma and renal lymph in the dog.

Angiotensin II was determined by radioimmunoassay in systemic arterial, pulmonary arterial, and renal venous plasma and in renal hilar lymph in dogs. Levels of the peptide were determined prior to and during progressive graded hemorrhage or reduction in renal perfusion pressure. Levels of angiotensin II in plasma consistently rose during transit through the lung indicating pulmonary conversion ...

The effects of Mas receptor antagonist (A779) and renal perfusion pressure on serum nitrite concentration in male and female rats when angiotensin II receptors 1 & 2 were blocked

Introduction: Renin angiotensin system has an important role in blood pressure and renal functions. Active angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 converts angiotensin I into angiotensin-(1-7) which is a vasodilator hormone and interacts with nitric oxide changes as well as other angiotensin II receptors. In this study we evaluated the role of Mas receptor antagonist (A779) and renal perfusion press...

Effects of calcium channel blockade on renal vascular resistance responses to changes in perfusion pressure and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibition in dogs.

We conducted these experiments to evaluate the selectivity of calcium channel blockade on the renal autoregulatory mechanism and on angiotensin II-mediated renal vasoconstriction. Experiments were performed in anesthetized dogs in which renal arterial pressure, renal blood flow, and glomerular filtration rate were measured at normal and reduced renal arterial pressure. At control arterial press...

Renal-endocrine adaptations to endogenous atrial natriuretic factor during tachycardia-induced reductions in renal perfusion pressure.

Atrial pressure, atrial natriuretic factor (ANF), the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, and renal hemodynamic functions were examined during and after right ventricular pacing in anesthetized dogs (n = 9). Mean arterial pressure, cardiac output, and renal blood flow decreased during tachycardia while right and left atrial pressures increased. ANF markedly increased during tachycardia but ur...

Quantification of intermediate steps in the renin-angiotensin-vasoconstrictor feedback loop in the dog.

The major intermediate steps in the renin-angiotensin-vasoconstrictor feedback loop have been experimentally determined. The quantitative relationships between renal perfusion pressure, renin secretion, arterial renin activity, and systemic arterial blood pressure were determined in dogs in which the cardiovascular control loops of the central nervous system were eliminated by spinal cord destr...
